WSSU Science Building

> WSSU Science Building

Winston-Salem State University’s new science building is a 102,095 SF, 5-story facility (with a 6th floor mechanical penthouse) providing a 240-seat flexible lecture hall, 4,500 SF of classroom space, and over 30,000 SF of traditional and investigational lab spaces. A grand staircase links the administrative and lab/classroom spaces together and serves as a focal point of the atrium.

The fifth-floor includes a lounge with an outdoor terrace that overlooks the quad and connects learning and administrative areas. The quad reflects Winston-Salem State University’s campus identity which is focused upon creating interaction between students and faculty on the intimate pedestrian scale. The science building provides a technologically advanced and environmentally sensitive facility as demonstrated by its goal to be the first LEED Silver building on campus.
